Hadley Weekly!

Yesterday marked 2 weeks that Hadley has been with us! The fact that I don't know what day it is or what the temperature is like outside indicates this time has already started to fly by and I better write things down before my post-prego brain forgets something important...

Hadley had her 2 week check up on Monday and we were happy to hear that she's growing! She's up to 8 lbs, 8 oz (from 7 lbs, 6 oz a week ago)! She seems to be eating great so I'm glad to see the proof that she is! She is in the 75th% for weight and for height! A full belly usually equals a happy baby and that's what we're getting most of the day! During the day, she is content to sleep in the pack and play between feedings and I almost always have to wake her up to eat! She gives us a little bit of this at night but she is consistently pretty fussy around midnight for a few hours...good times!

When her eyes are closed, she looks SO much like Tucker did when he was a baby but she really takes on her own look when her big blue eyes open up, leaving us puzzled about who she looks like.

She got to spend this past week with Grandpa and Grandma! She got lots of snuggles and we were so thankful for the help!

Guitar...New and Improved!

Gigi took Tucker on a trip to the music store in search of a guitar strap...

He came home with a broken string fixed, a guitar in perfect tune, and a really cool strap...

He looks even more like an official rocker now :)

HADLEY Weekly!

In true 2nd child fashion, the first "Hadley Weekly" is coming to you a few days late :) I've promised myself I wouldn't neglect her on the blog although many of you have told me that would be bound to happen... So, here goes!

Hadley was 1 week old on Monday! It is amazing how fast time flies, especially when you're in the fog of the newborn-haven't left the house-feeding at all hours of the day-exhausting stage! So far, Hadley has been not much short of a perfect angel! I'm very aware that she probably hasn't "woken up" yet and I may have a different story in a few weeks, but for now, we'll be thankful!

She's eating every 3 hours and sleeping A LOT in between...even at night! She seems to like the pack and play in our room, although she doesn't seem to mind being held either :)

She had her first sponge bath a few days ago and her hair was good and spiky afterwards--just like Tucker's when he was little!
She's opening her eyes more and can already focus in on you a little better than she could a week ago.

She had her first checkup at the dr. on Friday and after going down a little from her birth weight (7 lbs, 12 oz), she had gone back up to 7 lbs, 6 oz. She is wearing newborn size clothes and seems so little!

We just adore her... and I don't think Brad would mind me saying that he's absolutely smitten with her :) We're all enjoying her and big brother Tucker is warming up more and more! She got lots of love from GiGi this past week and Grandpa and Grandma just came into town today! We are thankful for a lot of family and friends that want to love on our little girl!

Settling in at Home

This first few days at home have been, well, like the first few days at home usually are... Filled with relief to be in our own environment, TIRING, full of challenging toddler moments as well as sweet brother-sister ones as well, and full of lots of helping hands!

We've gone from the first night where Hadley refused to sleep anywhere but in our arms to the last few nights where she peacefully slept in the pack and play between all of her feedings! Oh, the difference a few days can make! In general, Hadley is doing great and in the midst of all the adjustment, she seems to be the "easy part". She's eating well, sleeping a lot (in the day of course :), and she's really just as sweet as she looks!

Tucker is really doing well with everything too... He has certainly had his share of "acting out" moments, but he isn't directing it at Hadley. He talks about her often, calling her "Haffy"...we love this! He likes to "watch her" in the pack and play by bringing a stool over to stand in. He insists on giving her her blanket, stuffed animals, lotion (diaper rash cream) and anything else that seems to be "hers". His world has been full of distractions with Gigi here and Aunt Bethie as well the last few days...it will certainly be a different story when we're all alone again (scary!).

It is great to all be under one roof together and figuring out our new normal of being a family of 4!
Daddy...in heaven :)
Tucker's 2 favorite people these days...A chick-fil-A milkshake? Yes, please!

Hospital friends!

We were thankful to have friends and family come see us at the hospital! Our time there was great! It was fun to have so much time with Brad and Hadley...knowing it wouldn't just be the 3 of us after that... We got decent sleep since the nurses took her between feedings in the night and it was nice to be "waited on" for a few days :)

Happy Birthday Hadley!

Yesterday, on January 17th, 2011, sweet baby GIRL
Hadley Griffin Fiehler
entered into the world!

It all started yesterday morning when I woke up at 7:30 am to my water breaking... Nothing too "dramatic" but enough to make me know things were moving along. It was quite a feat to get Tucker and Grey fed, ready, and out the door in a hurry... As I packed Tucker's snack and juice cup while having contractions, I knew things were a little more hectic than last time :) By the time I arrived at my doctor's office at 9:30, they confirmed my water had broken and that I was 4 cm! They sent me straight to the hospital and I started to notice more contractions. Labor seemed to move along pretty slowly once I got settled in. I got my epidural, they started a little pitocin, and we waited... Around 3:00 when I still wasn't progressing much more, they gave me a little more pitocin in hopes of pushing things along. Within 15 short minutes, I went from being 6 cm all the way to 10! I began pushing at 3:15 and Hadley arrived just 10 minutes later at 3:25! This was shocking after a 2-hour pushing experience with Tucker...I deserved this, right? :) As soon as my midwife held her up, she said, "Daddy, what is it?" to which Brad told me it was a GIRL! Aaahhhh...after all the months of waiting and anticipating what this baby would be...what name it would be called...and whether or not we would have to buy a whole new wardrobe, we met our baby girl...and we were beyond thrilled!
Tucker arrived soon after to pay Hadley her first visit. He was not uninterested but not too engaged either. Mommy's hospital bed buttons were a little more exciting :) He was a little out of it since he had just been getting over a cold/cough and he had skipped his nap at the Gibbs house yesterday... All this combined led to him throwing up on the hospital room floor right before they were about to leave to go home! We couldn't believe it! He was pretty pitiful and we quickly saw them out the door so we could sanitize the room and Mommy before Hadley returned from the nursery. It was a pretty dramatic ending to a long day but on a very cute note, Tucker says "Havvy" and it absolutely melts my heart!
More pictures and stories to come... We are thankful for great care at the hospital and visits from our family and friends! We love our newest addition!
