The Curse of the Spiked Hair

Today, I took this cute picture of Tucker riding his horse that he got for Christmas...he doesn't totally "get it" yet but now that he's holding himself up a little better, he can sit in the bucket seat pretty well. CUTE!

So, if you haven't noticed in Tucker's recent pictures, he does not have the greatest hair :) I mean, I think it's great, but in "good hair" standards, he's struggling with his very-fine-stick-straight-up-can't-do-anything-with-it-hair! I pretty much knew what I was getting into when I saw this baby picture of Brad...

Tucker Weekly

Tucker is 24 weeeks old! It was a big week of changes this week!

Tucker is
-almost sitting up all on his own
-eating in his highchair now
-no longer in the infant car seat
-eating a big bowl of oatmeal every night
-starting to wear 12 month clothes!
-on his way to getting his first tooth...

Tucker is showing a lot of signs for getting his first tooth and I can feel a little bit breaking through... He has been a little more fussy than normal the past few days so maybe we'll see some evidence soon!

Tucker is also having lots of "laughing moments"...if I tickle him in just the right spot or make a really silly face, he will just start giggling! It is the sweetest sound and makes for very special Tucker and Mama moments!

Enjoy these pictures of Tucker...with stuff in his mouth... ALWAYS!

Weekend of Firsts!

Tucker must be at the age where a lot is changing... he is growing up and having lots of firsts these days!

Friday night was a big night for all of us... It was my first night away from Tucker and Brad's first night alone with Tucker! My church was having a women's overnight at a hotel in downtown Charlotte and it was only Friday night into Saturday afternoon so it was a nice, quick trip for my first time away from my boy! You know I have a great, hands-on husband when I didn't even have to give him instructions before I left. Brad is so aware of what we do with our day and how to take care of Tucker and that gave me total peace of mind as I was away from him. Everything went really smooth while I was gone and the "Tucker report" was always a good one! It was such a gift to me to be able to stay in a hotel room with no kids around... Thanks babe for being a great daddy!

Today, Tucker SAT UP on his own for the first time! He sat in between my legs, so I could support him, but he leaned on his hands and held himself up for a few minutes! I'm sure he'll be able to do it all on his own very soon!

Tonight, we let Tucker eat in his high chair for the first time! He did great and these days, he's eating his oatmeal better and better!

And lastly, we replaced Tucker's infant carseat with his convertible carseat today! It was SO sad to put it away in the attic...as if we're kissing this newborn stage goodbye. He hasn't ridden in it yet, but he is sure to look like a big boy now!

Our boy is growing too fast!

Sweet Caroline (bom, bom, bom)

On Friday, Tucker and I went to visit our friends Amy and Caroline. Amy is a dear friend of mine and was also one of the other moms that I was in Stacy's wedding with in December. Although Tucker and Caroline spent some time together surrounding all the events, they barely saw each other between them both sleeping all the time! So, it was fun to visit now that they're both awake a little more and doing a lot more fun stuff! It is CRAZY how much changes in just a few months! Caroline is about 2 months older than Tucker (and a little smaller in weight, of course :). Here are a few pictures... Caroline could not keep her hands off Tucker! :)

Good Laugh...

I just saw these two videos that I thought were hilarious so I wanted to share! You may have seen them before, but hope you enjoy a good laugh...

Sharon, this one's dedicated to you...

Tucker Weekly

Tucker is 23 weeks old! It has been a GREAT week because of the beautiful Spring weather we're having! Tucker loves to take walks and hang out on the screened in porch! Today, we put him in the jog stroller without his carseat--he looked like such a big boy! He's almost outgrown his infant carseat completely--his feet are almost hanging off the edge and the straps are getting a little tight! We have his bigger carseat waiting for him so I'm sure we'll make that switch in the next week or so!

Tucker found his feet this week! It is cute how he reaches for them and he can rock himself when he holds onto them.

He loves bath time and has started to play with some toys in there. Since he seems very close to sitting up on his own, I'm sure he won't be lying down in the bath much longer!

He is still having some "separation" issues when it comes to being away from me, but sometimes he does fine, so it's hard to predict. He loves his exersaucer and all the toys he puts in his mouth. We love our sweet, growing boy!

Good times in Georgia!

Tucker has officially been to 7 states now! A few of them we just "drove through", but we have quite the little traveler--or trooper I should say! This past weekend, we headed down to Atlanta to go visit my sister and to go to the ACC tournament! Turned out to be the perfect year to go to the tournament since DUKE won and we cheer for the Blue Devils! We took Tucker to 3 of the games so it was different than my past tournament experiences for sure! There were moments that he was startled by the loud screams and cheering, but for the most part, he really hung in there and even slept through parts of it!

It was great to finally get to visit Beth and her boyfriend JR and see their life there! We had fun hanging out, going to the games, and seeing some of Atlanta!

Tucker had to meet his cousins--the dogs :)

We also got to visit with our great friends Tori and Charles Burnett and their little man, Charlie! Tori and I have been friends for a LONG time and it was so much fun to be pregnant together this year and now to be "figuring out motherhood" at the same time as well! We got to meet each other's boys for the first time and we had a great weekend hanging out with them!

Tucker and Charlie! Charlie is only a month younger than Tucker but as you can see, Tucker is quite the chunk!

Tucker Weekly

Tucker was 22 weeks old yesterday! Once again, I'm a day late on getting out the "Tucker Weekly", but we've had a busy week around here hanging out with GiGi (my mom)! I think we wore Tucker out because ha had AMAZING naps today! It really seems like he is getting more fun each week... These days, he is so interactive, aware of his surroundings, and constantly smiling like he's the happiest boy in the world! More than any other time so far in his life, I think I would love to "freeze" this stage!

A few other happenings...

-He's eating cereal great now! We started it again last weekend and he's really getting it now. It's so fun to watch how he's learned what to do with it in his mouth! We had a few friends suggest oatmeal instead of rice and he does seem to like the oatmeal better (wouldn't you?). Maybe we'll try the rice again later. We're just feeding him at dinner now and in a few weeks we'll probably start adding the other meals. We have gotten some of this on video so we'll try to upload that soon--we think we've finally figured out how to do that!

--He's very close to sitting up on his own! Every time he's lying down, you can tell he's trying to pull up and he seems to be stronger in his back even when leaning up against something.

--We survived "daylight savings"...I was nervous about the time change affecting Tucker's schedule, naps, etc.... He seems to have adjusted pretty well but he has been having a hard time falling alseep at night and I think that's why!

We had so much fun this week with the beautiful weather! It was around 75 degrees several days in a row around here and I was so excited for Tucker to experience some sunshine! We were out and about a lot! We're not looking forward to the cold, rainy weather that's rolling in tomorrow but we are excited about heading to Atlanta for the weekend to visit my sister Beth and her boyfriend J.R. and to go to the ACC tournament! Go DUKE! It should be interesting as we attempt to take Tucker to some basketball games--there will be lots to report on I'm sure! Have a great weekend!

Fun with GiGi!

My mom came to town this week and we have had so much fun with her! GiGi likes to take good care of us--Mama included--and it is so much fun to have someone else to hang out with us for a few days! Thanks for coming to visit us GiGi...come back soon!

Looking back...

Fun weekend!

Last weekend was so much fun because we had lots of house guests! My sister came into town as well as 4 of our cousins! We had a great time...eating lots of good food, talking and hanging out till the wee hours of the morning...getting pampered by Beth (she's in Esthetician school right now!)...and of course, everyone loving on Tucker! Thanks for making the drive to come visit girls...we loved spending time with you!

I didn't take enough pictures, but here are a few...

In everyone's defense, I made them take this group shot first thing in the morning...

Tucker Weekly

Tucker was 21 weeks old yesterday! It is hard to believe that he is days away from being 5 months old! I just went back and read last week's post and saw that I had written that the rice cereal "was going too well"... okay, that was supposed to say, "was NOT going too well"! Big difference! Tucker did not seem to get the whole concept and just seemed disinterested in the food in general. We tried a few different ways for a week and decided to put it away and try again in a week or so. We'll let you know how it goes after Round 2 this weekend!

Other than that, Tucker has been:

--drooling a ton and putting everything in his mouth--pretty sure he's teething to some degree even though I can't actually see any teeth
--making this new sound with his lips when he puts them together (you'll have to use your imagination!)
--officially having some "separation anxiety"...Yes, I know it's early... But, for the last few weeks he consistently gets fussy when anyone holds him besides me and then immediately stops as soon as I pick him back up! Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he loves his mama, but, we gotta work on that! Thank you to my friends and family who have endured some screaming!
--holding his bottle with both hands--Brad still gives him a bottle every night and it is so cute how he grabs on to the bottle as soon as it gets in his mouth--if it weren't so heavy, I'm sure he could hold it!
--making a lot of sounds--you can tell he loves to hear his own voice and he is no longer a quiet little one in our house!

FREE MOVIES!

Here's the deal... If you haven't already been introduced to a "Red Box" near you, it is literally a red box that you can rent movies out of for $1 (around here they are usually found in grocery stores)! This is exciting, of course, in these times of cutting costs at every corner! So, they are offering an even better deal that I had to pass along! For the month of March, on Wednesdays, you can visit the RedBlog to get a "free movie code" so that you can go get a FREE MOVIE at any red box--every Wednesday in March!

This Tuesday, Australia is out on DVD so that's what I'll be getting on Wednesday! Happy March movie watching!

Snowy Day!

It's hard to believe it's March 1st and we have 5 inches of snow on the ground! It snowed throughout the night and we woke up this morning to a Winter Wonderland! My sister was in town this weekend, so she got to enjoy the snowy weather with us and Tucker got to see snow for the 3rd time this year--WOW! It's always nice to have a snow day that keeps you stuck in the house, in front of the fire, and hanging out with the fam... enjoy the pictures!

PS...I didn't think about how I was using my camera lens that "blurs" the background...so it's tough to see the snow in the background!
