Grey is 4!

Happy 4th Birthday Grey!
To our couch loving, people addict, tender, skiddish, tennis ball junkie, Brad sidekick, high energy, alert, nervous, friendly, peanut butter loving, at-our-side-no-matter-what-we're-doing-dog... We can't imagine life without you around and we're probably all better for the comfortable piece that you are in our house. Four years ago, in the middle of winter, when we had the crazy idea of looking in the paper for new litters of Weimaraners, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into or how much you would fit perfectly into our family. A lot has gone on in 4 years so it's a good think you can't talk... :)

Don't worry about Grey...

She's all taken care of!

Tucker's cleaning her (his new favorite thing is to take a dry rag and "wash" her all over!)...
And he's making sure she has bear and "dee-dee"...
He also loves to say "Good Grul" to her these days ("Good Girl") whenever she obeys...so cute!

2 year old stats

"A"
Concentrating on his puzzle...
We went to the doctor today for Tucker's 2 year old well check... He's healthy and growing, to say the least!
Weight: 34 pounds (90th percentile!)
Height: 37 inches (98th percentile!)

I can't believe how big Tucker is...or maybe I just can't believe that I have to hold this big boy as my belly is growing! I'm going to be encouraging a lot more walking...

Here's a few fun pictures from this weekend while we were enjoying the amazing weather out on the screened in porch...

These 2 love each other!
Tucker loves to give Grey hugs...

Sweaty and Smelly

Well, it was bound to happen. Boys sweat. Boys smell. And boys like to do things that make them smelly and sweaty. A few nights ago during our nightly backyard-playing-throwing-the-ball-with-Grey-while-Tucker-chases-him routine, Tucker was really sweating for the first time--hair wet and all. We took him down to his shorts and let him run his heart out until we gave him a bath. It's going to be a fun summer...

Big Boy Hair

Tucker got his 2nd big boy haircut this weekend and although they did a good job, it makes him look so old!!! It's becoming a little tradition for Brad to take him to Sportsclips and with Tucker's love for balls, you can imagine he's easily entertained there!
In this series of pictures, Tucker is playing the "Where's Grey" game. He throws his hands up in the air whenever anyone leaves the room these days and it's so cute! He gets really excited when they come back and since Grey's all over the house, we play this game often right now :)

Life is pretty fun right now :)

My Other Patient

This time last week, I was cleaning up dog vomit. A week later, Grey is just still not acting normal...barely eating, "GI issues", to say it nicely, and just being so mopey. We decided to call the vet this morning since she's not eating much and she quickly confirmed that Grey is probably just reacting to the crutches and Brad not being "normal". She said some dogs adjust to change faster than others...clearly we are the "others". So then I was sent to the store.

Here are the "cast of characters", as The Pioneer Woman would say...
Things have gone to a whole different level when I'm cooking dinner for my dog and buying her digestive track aids. Good thing I love that girl...

We're surviving over here...

So, I'm not liking this whole "single parent" thing... Poor (or should I say lucky) Brad is on crutches and I'm trying to take care of our all-over the place toddler, our high-maintenance dog, and my husband :) Seriously, Grey is really distressed over Brad being on crutches, not normal, etc... Since her whole throwing up spell, she has not eaten normal all week and just constantly wants to be laying near Brad. I think this has been more stressful to her than when we brought Tucker home! She may need to start seeing a psychiatrist...

All kidding aside, Brad is being a pretty good patient :) He's even telling me thank you a lot, which I really appreciate :) Although, he does keep reminding me that he did this for me when I had my wisdom teeth but I keep arguing with him that it's not even comparable because we didn't have a dog or a child then...but let's not go there :) We had his follow up appointment on Monday and the doctor said his foot looked great and after 2 weeks, he should hopefully be able to be off of the crutches and into a boot only. He's still supposed to keep it elevated a lot this week but he's been able to get back into a pretty normal working routine, which I know he is glad about!

On a cute note, we had little Bosten with us for a sleepover this week and him and Tucker are just hilarious to watch. They are SO different...in personality, in size, in schedule... But they are getting to an age where they actually play together which is fun. Tucker was definitely being territorial with his "stuff" and can be bullyish (is that a word?) with him, which we are trying to work on :) The CUTEST thing though is that Bosten is saying Tucker's name! He says "Kuh Kuh".... ADORABLE! We love that little guy!

Poor Bosten...

PJ's...goldfish..The Wiggles... Does it get any better?

Oh What a Night...

The last few days have been quite eventful around here...
Wednesday, Brad had to have some foot surgery. Everything went well... He will have to be completely off that foot and on crutches for at least 2 weeks and it will be a few months before he's completely back to normal. I'm sure you're all concerned for Brad, as am I...but let's be honest, this is going to be quite challenging for me as well :) So, I've been gearing up to take care of Tucker, Grey, and Brad for the next several weeks and I was really excited last night that I was going to have a girls night out since I'd been playing nurse, mommy, and dog caretaker for about 24 hours.

So, just as I started having good luck at Bunco, I get a few phone calls from Brad and he tells me that Grey has thrown up twice on the carpet and I need to come home because he can't clean it up. Seriously Grey? The girls were planning on going to a late movie afterwards, so I said I would come home before the movie to clean up... Well, all was good, I won $30 at Bunco (wahoo!) and Sharon and I drove home to clean up the mess. SHARON IS A ROCKSTAR BY THE WAY because she helped clean up my dog's vomit...who does that? While we were home, Grey threw up a few more times and after it was all cleaned up, we headed out to see "Dear John" (which was quite the tear-jerker by the way). After about an hour into the movie, I checked my phone to find a text from Brad saying that Grey had thrown up SIX more times...all around the house... Seriously Grey? So, just as we were about to find out what happened at the end of the movie, Sharon drove me home again (BFF of the year award, seriously) and helped me clean it all up. Disgusting. Gross. Unbelievably inconvenient.

After calling the vet, they just said to make her fast for 12 hours and that she would probably not get dehydrated because of her size. The great news is that we had no drama in the middle of the night and she seems to be okay today as well. We just fed her some rice and water so we'll see :)

Conclusion: That was really bad timing. Hopefully that will be the hardest day we have while I'm carrying the weight around here! And thankfully Tucker was asleep and missed the whole event.

Hoping for an uneventful weekend.....

Weekend Happenings..

"Place"

We did some recent "refresher" training with Grey and one of the new things we've been teaching her is "place". Her "place" is on top of the ottoman (this is taking the place of our coffee table for now since it's not sharp on the edges :), and although she is "getting it", sometimes she just gets on top of the piece of furniture she's closest to... Today, that happened to be Tucker's chair! It was quite the site and I was able to get pictures before she realized she didn't so much fit in the kiddie chair.
We went to visit the Wheatleys yesterday and it was the first time Tucker had seen Baby Carter! He didn't seem to be too jealous of me holding him... Seeing this picture is great perspective of how quickly 15 months goes by!
In the car last night, Lady GaGa came on...all of a sudden, Tucker was dancing to Poker Face! He dances a lot now whenever music comes on, but I've never seen him do it in his car seat! He was clapping...raising the roof...it was a total car dance party! I happened to have my camera so here are some "in motion" pictures!
Despite the freezing cold temperatures,
we had a great weekend! I love the "slowness" this winter time of year brings...

These Two...

It was bound to happen eventually...
Tucker enters kennel...

Grey enters kennel because no one should be in her kennel if she's not...
They snuggle and want to say for awhile...
I'm grossed out but allow it long enough to get some pictures :)
We can't control these two when they get together!

Tucker Weekly

42 weeks old!

T U C K E R
had a great road trip to and from Greenville with his backseat buddy, Charlie (and Mama had fun with Charlie's mama, Tori too!)
loves to look out the window (so does Grey)

is pulling up on everything and getting better and better at standing!

has finally started crawling on his knees, but prefers to army crawls most of the time

has gotten two new teeth up top--giving him 6 total now

still does this...

is getting bumps and bruises from the many attempts to pull up, reach for, and grab at

loves door stoppers

always has dog hair all over him from crawling on the hardwoods

loves cell phones--real ones, fake ones, it makes do difference

and definitely still has crazy hair days :)

Last night, Tucker and I were lying on the floor, rolling around, giggling...kind of wrestling... it made him seem so old! With him being so mobile, making lots of noise, and standing most of the time, he is definitely not my little baby anymore!

A "Little Grey"!

Our friends, Seth and Melanie, recently got a Weimarner puppy! And she looks just like Grey when she was little... Her name is Bella but I like to call her "little Grey" because of Grey's Anatomy (fellow viewers will understand!). She came over to play last night and she is PRECIOUS! It's hard to remember Grey that little...she's so clumsy with those long legs and big floppy ears that she hasn't grown into yet. Grey LOVED playing with little Bella and since they live closeby, hopefully this will be the first of many puppy playdates! Thanks for coming over to play Bella!

Couldn't have staged it...

Grey decided she needed to snuggle Tucker and he went right along with it. These are some of my favorite pictures! They look staged, but I had nothing to do with it but running to get my camera! I mean really, is there anything sweeter than a puppy and a baby becoming friends?
