Potty Rock Star!

I'm so proud of Tucker! He has gotten better and better with keeping his pants dry! He really hit it out of the park this weekend since today was the 4th day in a row that he has pooped in the potty! :) A few of those times were at public potties and other people's houses, which is even more impressive :) I'm not proud or anything.....

He's telling us most every time throughout the day and that is key. Hopefully the consistency is here to stay... it is such a different world not changing diapers!

The true test will begin tomorrow because Tucker is starting his "preschool" (in a home with a few other kids) 2 days a week and I'll be really interested to see if he's as good at telling Mrs. Sara as he is at telling me! Preschool will get another post...stay tuned!

Potty Update

Well, we just finished up Day 11 of potty training! It has been a long few weeks--lots of inside time, staying on Tucker's hip, and lots of paper towels and swiffering... But, I really am encouraged as we sit on this side of it! Today and yesterday, Tucker has had NO accidents in his underpants (first 2 days in a row)! A few days ago, we got our 2nd poop on the potty (BIG DEAL after a week long hiatus) and last night we went to a restaurant for the first time where he went pee-pee on the big, scary restaurant potty--I was so proud of him! He's getting better at telling me and he's going long amounts of time between peeing, which makes me realize that he is ready for this! Probably my biggest fear is how he'll do in environments outside of our home, especially if I'm not watching him like a hawk. But, hopefully all this work will pay off and he will start going potty more and more on his own accord!
Big boy in his underwear!
These weeks have not been without discouragement, questioning myself, gagging at the smell of poop, lots of M&M's, and going a little stir crazy, but if it's to get rid of the diapers, it's worth it, right?

Potty Anyone?

This is the picture of potty training... naked boy running around the house with the cutest bottom I've ever seen!

We started Potty Training Wednesday and we're going in the intensive-try-to-potty-train-in-a-week-style. I by no means think that Tucker will have this perfected in 7 days but after 4 days, I'm already thankful we're doing it this way because he's really getting it! The main goal is to get him to notice the "sensation" to potty and be able to communicate that so that he gets to the potty in time. He did this once even on Day 1 and several times since, so it's obvious that making this the focus of our entire day really makes it sink in! It is definitely a HUGE commitment...we haven't left the house since Tuesday (well, I finally got out by myself this morning :) and we have seriously done NOTHING but hang out in the kitchen in the close vicinity of the potty. Melissa, my great friend and mommy mentor, has written out great little cliff notes on doing potty training this way and since I had done it with a few of her boys, I was somewhat prepared for this madness. But, I had no idea that I would break down and cry every day at least once... I guess doing any one thing ALL day wears on you :) I'm sure if you've talked to me at some point this week, you've gotten the update on Tucker's pee-pee and poo-poo!

But, I'm so proud of my boy! He has pooped in the potty once (and on the floor once--don't judge :) and he even requested to go potty while our babysitter was here a few nights ago--even though he had a pull up on! He wore big boy underwear today for the first time instead of being naked and he has only had an accident in them once! Although it has been draining, it has been so fun to watch the process and see him "get it"! Hopefully by this time next week we will start having days where he has no accidents. For now, I'll just be thankful for the little victories in between!

**If you're interested in the info on this method, please let me know and I'll pass it on!

Here's our set up behind Tucker...potty, lots of toys, books, and whatever else we can use to entertain him while he waits for the pee pee! I also pumped him up on juice so he would have to potty a lot the first few days...

This morning when Tucker woke up, he went potty on the big potty (with a little cover on it) for the first time! He gets rewarded with m&m's so this is him having m&m's before breakfast :)
You can see him in his big boy training pants here! SO weird!
I'll keep you posted on the progress!
